Deuteronomy 31:
"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be in dread of them: for it is the LORD your
God who goes with you he will not fail you or forsake you."
This verse is as applicable now as it was to the people of Moses' day.
We may not be faced with the task of conquering the Holy Land after
spending generations in slavery and then wandering around the desert
for fortyyears, but we do have the job of trudging off to work, of trying
make senseof a world that fights against our hopes at every turn, and of
trying toward off the boredom, sadness, bustle, vanity and tedium that so
manyvoices in our culture try to palm off on us as "real life." Today, remember
that in that spiritual war, God's promise in today's verse is made to you as
much as to ancient Israel. He will not fail you or forsake you.
So be strong and of good courage!
